Grateful Dead: “I Need a Miracle”
ALBUM: Shakedown Street
YEAR: 1970
WRITERS: John Perry Barlow and Bob Weir
Never released as a single, but often played in concert.
Bob Weir shares songwriting credit on the Shakedown Street classic “I Need a Miracle” with his frequent lyrical collaborator John Perry Barlow. But Weir says there’s really no story to tell about it — most of what you hear on that cut came to him in a flash. “That one just sorta sprung into my head, words and music, all just at the same time, quite suddenly. I don’t know where it came from or nothin’.”
Bob Weir celebrates his 68th birthday today!
